Have you ever thought about going on a carriage ride? It always makes me think of Cinderella, when she goes off to the ball. Taryn and I are pretty excited about the wedding, and that excitement is only magnified by the fact that we’re going to have carriage rides during the reception! A lot of people do some pretty unique things, but no one that we know of has had carriage rides. I’m pretty excited.

Don’t worry, this isn’t going to be a white-tie affair. That being said, it’s also not a wear-a-nice-sweater-and-you’ll-look-fine event. The men in the wedding party will be wearing tuxedos, and the invitations will most likely say something about it being black tie. Men: if you have a suit, wear it. Ladies…I don’t really know what to say except to keep in mind that we’ll be in a church. The man upstairs already knows what your goods look like, so there’s no real need to show them off at my wedding. Also, please stay away from polka-dots. I saw a girl wearing them at a wedding this past summer and it was very unfortunate.
That being said, this wedding is in the evening. It starts at 6:30pm. Because it’s an evening wedding, I’m thinking having the groomsmen wear black shirts. Here are a couple of options. Let me know what you think!

Last night, I was sitting in the recliner, reading my message boards about Butler Basketball (#16 in the country, 12-1!) and my cell phone started ringing. I ran into the other room to see who it was, but by the time I got there it had already gone to voicemail. I saw that it was Taryn, so I figured I had better call her back. She doesn’t ever call to just talk, so I figured it was something important. So I called her and she wanted to know if it was okay if she went ahead and got our toasting flutes for the wedding.
I like to think that I’m a little bit more involved in the wedding planning process than most other guys, but when it comes to the wedding flutes, I don’t even know where to begin. I told her that I didn’t care if she bought them, so she went ahead and got them. She sent me a picture so that I could share them with all of you! They’re Swarovski Crystal, which is very beautiful.

Our cake options have changed. We narrowed our choices down the last time, and we finally figured out what we wanted. Then, someone we know who is getting married before us showed us the cake that she is getting, and it is very similar. We can’t have that!
We’ve narrowed it down to two cakes this time. I have a pretty good idea of which one we’re going to choose, but I want to know what you all think. Let me know by leaving a comment!

Well, Taryn and I did it. We bought the wedding bands. Andrew’s Jewelers was having a great sale, so we just went ahead and did it. We were at the mall playing with the puppies and we just happened to stop by the jewelery store. I now understand why dad likes to avoid that place! You really never know what you’ll end up doing, even if you “just know” you won’t buy anything. Taryn and I talked tonight and we decided that we would wear the rings for a week to make sure we liked them. We don’t want to end up with rings that we don’t really like because we’ll be wearing them for a looong time. After this week, though, they’re going into the safe until the wedding.
