Old Times

Posted on Jun 12, 2008 under Uncategorized | 1 Comment

I was watching TV today and I saw an episode of Life With Jim that I thought was really funny. One of their kids was complaining that she didn’t like corn, so Jim tried demonstrating that eating corn can be fun. He started eating it and pretending he was a type-writer. Their kids did not understand. Then, the girl complained about not liking corn again and the mom said she sounded like a broken record. The girl asked what that was!

It got me thinking, what kind of things did people used to do at weddings that young people don’t know about anymore? Anyone know of anything?

Oh, the 80s

Posted on Jun 01, 2008 under Uncategorized | 1 Comment

I told Taryn a long time ago that I wanted to do the thriller dance at our reception. Well, I was bored this evening and was looking up funny YouTube videos and I found this clip. I’m glad I don’t remember most of the 80s.

Wedding Music

Posted on May 21, 2008 under Uncategorized | 2 Comments

I’m very excited about the music for our wedding. We’re pretty sure we’re going to have a live band instead of a DJ. We’re going to go with Tuxedo Junction, which was created by a former high school band director that goes to my church. Taryn’s family always has at least one polka played at their weddings because they have some kind of polish background amidst the German and Italian. Tuxedo Junction has a few polkas on their playlist, but one in particular that I know Taryn likes is the “Beer Barrel Polka.” Listen to the first song in the following video if you want to hear what it sounds like!

Missouri Mom on MySpace

Posted on May 15, 2008 under Uncategorized | 1 Comment

I just read an article about a lady in Missouri who posed as a 16 year old boy and was involved in an internet romance.  The romance ended and the girl who was dating the “boy” was so distraught that she killed herself.  As if that’s not sad enough, this isn’t the first time that I’ve heard of this type of situation.  The same thing happened in the Cincinnati area a few months ago.  I think what these people have done is terrible. Adults need to act like adults and kids need to stop looking to the internet for romance.  When you’re a little older and you’ve been on the dating scene for a while, then the internet makes logical sense, but not when you’re a teenager;  you haven’t even had time to figure out your dating style.

Boeing Dreamliner

Posted on Apr 14, 2008 under Uncategorized | 1 Comment

A few days ago, I mentioned the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.  I received word that Boeing has pushed back the plane’s first flight from the end of the second quarter this year to some time in the fourth quarter.  This will delay the plane’s delivery to airlines.  It is expected to be in the 3rd quarter of 2009 instead of the first.  Evidently, the delays are being caused by the reliance upon partners who have more expertise in the new technologies that are being used.

Yahoo! and Microsoft

Yahoo! has been doing everything it can to dodge Microsoft over the past week.  Microsoft offered to buyout Yahoo!, even though Yahoo! had not even put any feelers out as far as whether or not it should be for sale; Microsoft’s offer was completely unsolicited.  It appears as though Yahoo! does not want anything to do with Microsoft because they have joined forces with Google.  They have begun talks with Google regarding being bought by them instead of Microsoft.  Microsoft responded last night by joining forces with NewsCorp so they could have more leverage to buyout Yahoo!

Couric to Leave CBS

Posted on Apr 09, 2008 under Uncategorized | 3 Comments

I just found out that Katie Couric is going to leave CBS, possibly after next year’s presidential inauguration.  Her contract, which began in 2006, is supposed to last until 2011, but I don’t think she enjoys the job, nor do I think CBS is happy with her as the head anchor of the CBS News.  Her salary is about $15 Million, which I’m sure won’t be easy to say goodbye to, but I’m sure she has enough to live on. I’m curious as to whether or not CBS will hire another woman or if they’ll have a man again.  It was big news when they hired her because she was only the second female head anchor, and the first permanent female head anchor in television history for the national news on any network.

Royal Blood

Posted on Feb 04, 2008 under Uncategorized | 2 Comments

Our wedding is turning out to be an extremely nice affair.  You might even say that it is fit for a king!  If you don’t read my other blog, SpeakerG, I recently discovered that I am a descendant of King Louis VII.  I always thought I was kind of a big deal, but who knew I was royal?! ;)   I hope Taryn feels comfortable marrying into a royal family.

Bridesmaids

Taryn found a dress that she likes for the bridesmaids.  It’s not “for sure” yet, but she definitely thinks it is pretty.  I think I should share it with you all!  Let us know what you think.

Update

Posted on Dec 17, 2007 under Uncategorized | No Comment

Just to let everyone know, I have been trying to update this website over the past week or so, but I haven’t been able to do so.  The little box that I type in wouldn’t let me click inside of it.  After trying everything I could think of, my mom tried to write a post using her computer and it worked for her.  All of a sudden I decided that I should try clearing my cookies.  It seems to have done the trick.  Now it is almost midnight, so I’m not going to write anything more tonight.  Check back over the next few days to see the latest developments in the wedding.
